Henry Schein recently published its 2021 sustainability and corporate social responsibility report, which is titled "BOLD Leadership for a Healthier World."
The report details work the company has done over the past year to advance its environmental, social, and governance stewardship. This body of work includes disclosures, health equity initiatives, and continued collaborations with business partners and suppliers to help address climate change.
Some of the work the company highlighted includes the following:
- A commitment to increasing the diversity of all underrepresented groups in senior levels by improving the company's talent acquisition and organizational development practices as well as by enhancing its compensation processes to better align with the company's strategic objectives
- Signing of the Business Ambition for 1.5°C Initiative, which sets science-based targets for companies to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050. In addition, Henry Schein joined the World Economic Forum Alliance of CEO Climate Leaders and the National Academy of Medicine Action Collaborative on Decarbonization of the Health Care Sector
- The advocation for the equitable distribution of healthcare services to underserved and underrepresented populations. Specifically, Henry Schein donated more than $21.5 million in healthcare products and cash in 2021 through Henry Schein Cares and the Henry Schein Cares Foundation
- The co-founding of the Responsible Glove Alliance, an industry collaborative established to prevent, identify, and remediate forced labor in the Malaysian medical supply chain. Also, the company adopted additional advanced human rights compliance tools and initiatives
- The launch of several new employee resources groups for Team Schein members in addition to a newly deployed diversity and inclusion performance metric for all global directors and vice presidents
