A 74-year-old man allegedly shot a woman inside a dental practice in Georgia, fled, and turned the gun on himself before he was arrested during a police traffic stop on December 1, according to multiple news stories.

Carl Clark, of Athens, GA, is accused of shooting a woman, whom authorities have not identified, at around 6:30 a.m. on December 1 at McRae Family Dental in Athens, GA. As of this reporting, the woman was at a local hospital after undergoing surgery for her gunshot wounds, according to the stories.

Clark, who reportedly shot himself during a police stop after the shooting, was taken to a hospital for treatment and remained in stable condition, according to the stories.

Police said that Clark and the woman knew each other but did not disclose any further details about their relationship. Additionally, police did not provide any information about a possible motive for the shooting, according to the stories.

The shooting occurred before the dental office was open. It is unclear why Clark and the woman were at the office when the business had not yet opened.
