A former employee at a dental practice in West Virginia is accused of embezzling more than $463,000 from her employer while working there for multiple years, according to multiple news stories published on January 26.
Angela Hall, who worked at Jarrell Family Dentistry in Surveyor, WV, allegedly embezzled at least $463,351 from the practice between 2018 and 2025, according to the stories.
In October 2025, an investigation began after a forensic accountant, who was tasked with investigating fraudulent checks, contacted authorities on behalf of the practice owner, Dr. Jeffery Jarrell.
Hall, who had access to the practice’s finances and the dentist’s personal accounts due to her position as an office manager, allegedly wrote hundreds of checks to herself without permission while working there. Forensic reporting revealed that 380 checks were written directly to Hall, and the remaining 42 were written to businesses and others in attempt to conceal the alleged theft, according to the stories.
Additionally, the investigation revealed discrepancies between the dental office’s check registry and bank records belonging to Hall.
Also, Hall allegedly deposited cash payments made by patients into her personal bank account. Records indicated that patients paid more than $140,000 in cash payments but only $42,000 was deposited into the practice’s accounts, according to the stories.
After the alleged embezzlement was discovered, Hall was fired from her position at the practice.
A criminal complaint is merely an allegation. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
