Three women are suing the estate and former dental practice of a clinician in Maryland who took his life after police began investigating allegations that he hid a camera in his practice's bathroom, according to a story published in the Baltimore Banner.

The former colleagues filed a lawsuit against the estate of Dr. Thomas Menton, who took his life on January 13, 2024, just days after police began investigating him and Menton Family Dental Care in Ellicott City, MD. The practice was taken over and renamed following his death.

The women claim that Menton, 59, allegedly hid a camera in an employee bathroom, which contained a shower, to secretly record them without their clothes. Furthermore, the women claim in the lawsuit that Menton allegedly encouraged them to use the shower in the practice bathroom after he bought a stationary exercise bike for the clinic. The dentist reportedly urged them to exercise during work hours, according to the story published April 24.

After one of the women staff members discovered the camera in the shared practice bathroom, which had two doors and was situated between Menton’s office and another used by colleagues, police reportedly initiated an investigation into the dentist.

During the police investigation, Menton allegedly told authorities that he kept a device charging block for his watch in the bathroom but denied placing a camera there. Additionally, Menton claimed he would not have mistakenly purchased a charger that contained a camera, according to the story.

Menton died before police could determine whether or not criminal charges would be filed against him.
