
The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) awarded the Oral Health Service Award to Dr. Francisco Ramos-Gomez, a pediatric dentistry professor at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) School of Dentistry.
Ramos-Gomez, who is also chair of the division of preventive and restorative sciences at the dental school, was recognized for his work developing a six-step protocol that pediatricians can use to provide preventive oral healthcare and education at children's one-year doctor visits. He has been a pediatric dentist for more than 30 years and has also developed a risk assessment tool for caries.
