A man who referred to himself as Atlanta's top veneer specialist and allegedly scammed clients out of $4 million while illegally practicing dentistry without a license pleaded not guilty, according to a story published on January 27 on WSB-TV.
Brandon Dillard, who has been free on a bond not long after his October 2024 arrest, waived his arraignment on January 26 and pleaded not guilty to more than 110 charges of practicing dentistry without a license, practicing medicine without a license, theft by deception, and violation of the Georgia Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO) Act.
Dillard reportedly operated A List Smiles Atlanta, which looked like a legitimate office with dental equipment, and allegedly led clients to believe he was a veneer tech who provided services. Though veneers can only be placed by licensed dentists, Dillard, who has never been a licensed dentist, had purportedly been illegally providing veneers and advertising his services since 2021.
The company promoted deals, like raffles for a $5,500 veneer procedure, on its social media platform. Dentists in Georgia, as well as outside the state, reported their concerns to police about patients who received services from Dillard. He reportedly pocketed more than $4 million from clients who received shoddy veneers.
Furthermore, Dillard is accused of offering veneer training sessions. He purportedly charged more than $6,000 to become a veneer specialist. However, no such classification exists in Georgia.
Additionally, Elias Mauricio Soto Moreno, who is licensed to practice dentistry in the Republic of Colombia but not in the U.S., was charged with violating Georgia’s RICO law as well. Soto Moreno allegedly helped Dillard run training courses.
A criminal complaint is merely an allegation. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
