ECU selects VitalSource for e-learning platform

With digital learning curriculums on the rise and more students using e-textbooks, the East Carolina School of Dental Medicine has selected the VitalSource e-textbook management and distribution platform from Ingram as a cornerstone of its new e-learning environment.

Vital Source worked directly with education publishers to develop a custom e-content package to meet the specific needs of the university, according to a press release. The school implemented the VitalSource platform as part of a larger technology initiative. Students and educators at the school are now able to access content via download online or through their mobile devices, including the iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch.

VitalSource claims more than 2 million users and a presence on 6,000 campuses in 180 countries. Other dental schools that use VitalSource include Case Western Reserve University School of Dental Medicine, Howard University College of Dentistry, Louisiana State University School of Dentistry, University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine, University of Texas San Antonio Dental School, University of Buffalo School of Dental Medicine, University of Mississippi School of Dentistry, University of Alberta Dental School, and University of Manitoba School of Dentistry.
