The University of Hong Kong (HKU) Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and the Prince Philip Dental Hospital have launched the world’s first artificial intelligence (AI) clinic for oral potentially malignant disorders.
The clinic uses the AI-based tool OralCancerPredict to assess an individual’s cancer risk and guide treatment, offering surgery for high-risk patients and observation for low-risk ones.
Developed using data from patients treated at Queen Mary Hospital in Hong Kong, the tool analyzes demographics, comorbidities, clinical features, and histological data to predict a person’s cancer risk.
