Dentist angry over radio advertising scam

A San Diego dentist has accused a man of scamming him with false promises of radio advertising, according to news reports.

Rod Strober, D.D.S., said he wanted to expand his business with radio advertising and was contacted by Richard Duncan, who told him he worked for KCEO 1000 AM, a local radio station. Dr. Strober said Duncan offered him a 30-second ad on KCEO 1000, wrote up a contract, and taped the spot.

Dr. Strober says he paid Duncan $1,500, but the ad never aired. In fact, Duncan was never an employee of KCEO 1000 but an independent contractor whose last appearance on KCEO 1000 was in late January, according to Aston Broadcasting, the company that owns the radio station.

Dr. Strober told 10News, a San Diego TV station, that he thinks other people have been victimized by Duncan, and he hopes his story will keep more from falling prey to a similar scam.
