Indigenous dental professionals in Canada will soon have a platform through which they can work with other Indigenous colleagues and contribute to the delivery of oral health services in communities across the country.

The newly established Indigenous Dental Association of Canada (IDAC) will connect the Indigenous dental community to share resources, knowledge, and experiences and support approaches to dentistry rooted in traditional ways of knowing, the organization announced in a press release.

IDAC will create tools and resources to improve community oral health through its Indigenous Oral Health Knowledge Transfer Project, including a multimedia project to raise awareness about oral healthcare and services among Indigenous communities. The project will bridge cultural understanding and combat biases in receiving oral care.
