Communication firm Weave secures $5M funding

Weave has received $5 million in Series A funding to develop its communication software for the dental industry.

Weave is a telephone company for small and medium-sized businesses that syncs with existing customer relationship management and electronic medical record (EMR) software.

About 600 dental practices in the U.S. and Canada use Weave as a means to communicate with their patients and streamline office operations, according to the company. Weave's communication software links to a dental practice's existing patient database, giving office personnel instant access to information during patient communications.

Funds will go toward new personnel to support new and existing customers and to expand Weave's sales and marketing efforts to meet the increasing demand for its software. In the past month, Weave's customer base jumped 30%, the company said. The money will also be used to develop new innovations to further differentiate itself in the market.

The round was led by A Capital and joined by a number of other investors, including Homebrew, Fuel Capital, SV Angel, Y Combinator, and Initialized Capital.
