The celebrity with the most desired smile

This year may belong to singer and songwriter Miley Cyrus. She won her first Grammy Award for Best Pop Solo Performance for "Flowers," and her smile was the most coveted by the public. In both cases, she beat out superstar Taylor Swift.

Miley Cyrus was ranked No. 1 because her teeth generated approximately 69,000 searches monthly, nudging out Tay Tay, whose smile generated about 66,000 searches per month, according to an analysis conducted by the U.K.-based teeth whitening store 365 Teeth Whitening. The study shines a light not only on the public's enchantment with celebrity smiles but how important they are for setting trends in dental aesthetics, according to the company.

To figure out which celebrity had the most envied teeth, the company combed through Instagram and Google search data to figure out how many followers were keeping tabs on their favorite stars' smiles. Globally, Instagram's user base exceeds about 2.3 billion, and some celebrities have successfully garnered more than 500 million followers, highlighting the social media platform's enormous influence.

Following behind Miley and Taylor was none other than controversial rapper Cardi B, who secured third spot with her teeth getting nearly 9,500 searches per month. In 2016, Cardi fixed her teeth with porcelain veneers, and she told the world about them a year later when she rapped "Got a bag and fixed my teeth/Hope you hoes know it ain't cheap," in her smash hit "Bodak Yellow."

In addition to making this list, Cardi B's teeth still make the news. In March, Cardi B shared on Instagram that she lost one of her veneers while chewing on a hard bagel. Check out her video below.

"Needless to say, if a celebrity makes it onto the top 100 Instagram followers list, you can guarantee that they will help shape how their own fans relate to themselves, whether that be style, grooming, beauty, and especially their teeth," Sarah Hagan, a brand director at 365 Teeth Whitening, said in reference to the results.
