Mistrial, not guilty charges reached in oral surgeon case

A jury in California found an oral surgeon who was accused of molesting several patients not guilty of sexual assault and couldn't reach a verdict on other offenses, according to a story published on February 26 on KCRA3.

By mid-March, the state district attorney's office must decide whether it will retry Dr. David Webb, of the now-closed Northern California Facial and Oral Surgery, on those charges that resulted in a mistrial. The jury deliberated for several days and voted 30 times on the charges but could not reach an agreement, according to the story.

In 2022, the allegations, which included Webb purportedly having female patients touch his genitals, came to light after patients reported that he assaulted them. In March 2023, Webb surrendered his license to practice dentistry in California. About a year later, he applied for and was granted a dental license in Idaho. However, the oral surgeon testified that he never opened a practice there. Additionally, Webb faces more than 10 lawsuits in which he is accused of abuse, according to the story.
