A New York University (NYU) College of Dentistry professor has been awarded a five-year grant to establish a new faculty development program to improve the delivery of community-based oral healthcare training.
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) awarded Courtney Chinn, DDS, MPH, a five-year, $1.3 million grant to develop the Growing Faculty Success in Community-based Educational Settings program. Dr. Chinn is a clinical associate professor of pediatric dentistry and director of NYU's postgraduate program in pediatric dentistry.
The goal of the new program is to recruit, develop, and train faculty focused on teaching the delivery of community-based oral healthcare, Dr. Chinn said. Faculty members chosen for the five-year program will get educational loan repayment funds and participate in structured development activities.
