The ADA is now offering online training for dentists who want to care for nursing home residents.
The online continuing education course, titled Dentistry in Long-term Care: Creating Pathways to Success, teaches dentists how to expand their practices to nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and senior centers. The course explains how to work with specific healthcare needs to the elderly population, including challenging medical and cognitive conditions. It also provides information about useful equipment and supplies, as well as getting access to patients.
To learn more and register, visit the ADA continuing education website. The 10-hour course costs $250 for ADA members and $650 for nonmembers. Dentists can also register up to three other team members at the reduced tuition rate of $150 per person.
