Trustees at Southern Illinois University (SIU) in Edwardsville have appointed Bruce Rotter, DMD, as dean of its School of Dental Medicine in Alton.
Dr. Rotter is an alumnus of the SIU dental school and joined the School of Dental Medicine faculty as an assistant professor in 1993 and then as a professor in 2009. He was the associate dean for academic affairs prior to serving as interim dean since June 2011, according to the university. Dr. Rotter created one of the first implant fellowship training programs in the U.S., which led to the creation of a freestanding implant clinic, which he directed.
