Dental office launches misleading ads

A misleading series of ads titled "U of T Dental Plan" has appeared on Facebook, causing concern among University of Toronto students and administration.

College Street Dental is the dental office behind the ads, which display faces of young, attractive women, according to a story in the Varsity, the student newspaper of the University of Toronto.

The ads use the university's logo and crest, which have confused students into thinking that the campaign is run by the university.

Students say they ads are using sex appeal to lure people's attention because the women in the ads show display a lot of cleavage, and the school says the images violate the university's stance on equity.

School officials plan to ask the clinic to stop running the ads because it is a breach of copyright.

David Cheng of College Street Dental said the promotions on Facebook were an experiment. He said a marketing company generated the ads, and he's told them to remove the copyrighted material.
