The Florida Legislature has passed a bill that would require dentists and physicians licensed in other states to obtain an expert witness certificate prior to testifying as an expert in Florida, the Clinical Advisor reported.
HB 479 also provides the boards of dentistry, medicine, and osteopathic medicine with the authority to discipline those expert witnesses if their testimony is deceptive or fraudulent, the article noted.
The bill is now awaiting Gov. Rick Scott's signature for final approval.
