Tired of lecturing older patients on the importance of oral health? Now the American Dental Association (ADA) is stepping in. With support from GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare, the ADA and ADA Foundation are offering dentists, caregivers, and family members free educational material on the special oral needs of senior citizens.
The OralLongevity brochure and DVD are available on the ADA website. The brochure offers basic tips on maintaining good oral health, while the DVD gives detailed information with chapters like "What to expect as you get older" and "Links between a healthy mouth and body." You can download a copy for free, and print out as many brochures as you need for your patients.
"The goal of OralLongevity is to create a dialogue between patients, caregivers and oral health professionals," says Dr. Ronald Rupp, senior manger of professional relations, GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare, in a press release. OralLongevity will bring patients into the dental office, where they can receive information and guidance from trusted professionals."
