Dr. Tom Giacobbi returns with another installment of his Just A Minute, Doc series. This time, he has some advice for those with new dental team members and how clinicians can ensure new employees get off to a great start in your dental practice.

"Hey, do me a favor. Give David a call. Make sure the filling we did yesterday is feeling great. Thanks.
"Let's take a minute to talk about new employees. We all go through it. We need to onboard a new member to the team, and the first thing we often do is pair them up with somebody with experience to walk them through the duties of their new position.
The second thing you should consider is setting up a training guideline. What are the metrics they need to meet? What are the milestones you want them to achieve so that you have a way of keeping score on their progress? Is it going too slow? Is it going faster than you thought?
Finally, I encourage all new team members to ask a lot of questions. And if they're not asking you questions or they're not taking notes, you should be very concerned.
