A dentist in Texas was arrested for allegedly physically and sexually assaulting a 21-year-old woman and refusing to let her leave a home by restraining her, according to multiple news articles published on December 30.

Dr. Eric Tong, 34, a military dentist at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, TX, who previously held the rank of major, was charged with aggravated sexual assault, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, assault on a family/house member, impeding breath/circulation, unlawful restraint, and assault causing bodily injury to a family member.

Tong, who served in the U.S. Army from June 2017 to November 2025, was being held in the local county jail, according to stories.

On December 29 at about 1:30 p.m., police responded to a San Antonio home for a report of an alleged assault of a 21-year-old woman. When officers arrived, they observed several marks on the woman, and she allegedly said she needed help. She purportedly told authorities that Tong assaulted her multiple times and restrained her to keep her from leaving the home, according to stories.

The mother of the alleged victim, whose identity is not being released, alleged that her daughter endured hours of dread before secretly using Tong’s phone to text her for help, according to a story published on KSAT.com.

About two months ago, Tong reportedly met the woman at church, and their relationship progressed quickly, with the two moving in together. On December 28, Tong and the woman reportedly had an argument, leading her to pack her belongings with the intention of moving out. However, the woman’s mother said Tong convinced her to stay that night because it was late, according to the story.

The mother claimed that her daughter woke up to Tong allegedly slapping her and strangling her to unconsciousness. Tong allegedly sexually assaulted her, pointed a loaded gun to her head, and said he could kill her, according to the story.

Tong’s alleged victim somehow managed to find his phone, text her mother what happened, and delete the message so he wouldn’t see it. This prompted her mother to call police, according to the story.

A criminal complaint is merely an allegation. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
