The dentist was reportedly shot multiple times, and his wife was shot once. The crime is not being investigated as a murder-suicide because no firearm was found at the residence.

On the morning of December 30, the owner of Athens Dental Depot in Columbus, OH, called 911 after Tepe uncharacteristically failed to show up for work and neither he nor his wife could be reached. Additionally, co-workers went to the Tepe home, and when they arrived, they heard children crying, but no one answered the door, according to stories.

Not long after that, someone called the police, saying Spencer Tepe’s body could be seen inside the home, and he appeared dead, according to the stories.

The couple had been married since 2021 and were set to celebrate their fifth anniversary in about a month.

Tepe attended the Ohio State University College of Dentistry and earned his dental degree in 2017, and he had a special interest in dental implant therapy. When he wasn’t working, Tepe enjoyed spending time with his family, golfing, and traveling, according to the Athens Dental Depot website.

Due to the tragedy, Athens Dental Depot closed for the rest of the week, according to a statement posted on the practice’s Facebook page.

“(Dr. Tepe) will be deeply missed by our team and the many patients he cared for over the years. Our thoughts and sincerest condolences are with their families and loved ones during this very difficult time,” according to the statement.
