Karen Sackett was found dead in her home on November 4, 2024, just days following her birthday on November 1, 2024. University personnel reportedly discovered the hygienist's body during the university's process to have her evicted, according to the story.

Police said it appears that Sackett died of natural causes but were continuing to investigate. Also, authorities are awaiting the results of her toxicology report.

Sackett's family members claim that she was trying to get away from her boyfriend who shared the home with her and was employed by the university. Documents revealed Sackett and the boyfriend, who has not been identified, had a rough relationship. From 2017 to 2023, police visited their apartment nine times for alleged domestic violence incidents, welfare checks, and disputes.

In July 2018, Sackett reportedly told police that her boyfriend assaulted her and as a result, she was having chest pains and shortness of breath. However, no charges were filed due to her allegedly being uncooperative, according to the story.

It is believed that Sackett's boyfriend was out of state when she died.

Sackett was devoted to her career as a dental hygienist and was known for her gentle and kind nature and genuine care for patients, according to her obituary.

Additionally, Sackett's beloved dog, Chloe, died just after her death, according to the obituary.
