Dentist ordered to pay $235K to resolve cases

A dentist in California accused of fraudulently billing insurance companies and more pleaded guilty and was ordered to pay more than $235,000, according to a press release dated June 3 from the Monterey County District Attorney's Office.

Dr. Ayman Adeeb of the Monterey Dental Center in California pleaded guilty to two counts of public nuisance for allegedly billing insurance companies for procedures that were never performed on patients, contracting without a license, and failing to pay required workers' compensation insurance, according to the release.

Additionally, Adeeb must pay $210,000 civil penalties, as well as $23,000 in restitution to Anthem and $5,830 to Humana.
