Dental insurer and benefits administrator Dominion National is covering benefits for teledentistry in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Benefits allowed include consultations for limited and problem-focused evaluation and re-evaluation. This includes these Code on Dental Procedures and Nomenclature (CDT) codes: D0140, D0170, and D0171. Benefits for a physician consultation (CDT code D9311) via teledentistry also will be covered.
Additionally, Dominion National is waiving frequency limits, and these evaluations will not count toward a member's annual frequency limitations until further notice. This will be reviewed periodically and updated as needed, according to the company.
