Being a dentist is again the best job in the U.S., according to the list of the 100 Best Jobs of 2017 by U.S. News & World Report.
Being a dentist was the second-best job in 2016 and the best job in 2015. This year, orthodontist came in fifth, after leading the rankings in 2016, and dental hygienist came in at No. 32.
The number of jobs for dentists will increase by 18%, according to U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics figures cited by U.S. News. This adds up to more than 23,000 new employment openings.
The magazine ranked the 100 best jobs according to their ability to do the following:
- Pay well
- Offer a challenge
- Not be too stressful
- Offer room to advancement
- Provide a satisfying work-life balance
After dentist, the other jobs in the top five were nurse practitioner, physician assistant, statistician, and orthodontist.
