Touro to open new dental school in NY

Touro College and University System will open New York's first new dental school in nearly 50 years this fall.

The Touro College of Dental Medicine will be part of the New York Medical College (NYMC) campus in Valhalla, NY, according to the school.

The new dental school will include a four-year predoctoral program, a continuing education program, and a 132-chair community dental clinic. School officials anticipate 110 students will enroll for fall 2016, with full capacity to be about 440 students.

Jay P. Goldsmith, DMD, will be the school's dean. Dr. Goldsmith is a former professor, program director, and deputy chief of the NYMC Department of Dental Medicine.
