ADA 2015: Evidence-based dentistry awardees announced

WASHINGTON, DC - The ADA and the American Association for Dental Research (AADR) have named the recipients of the 2015 Evidence-Based Dentistry (EBD) awards.

The three awards honor EBD leaders in three categories: accomplished faculty, midcareer faculty, and practitioner. Greg Huang, MDD, MSD, MPH; Donald Chi, DDS, PhD; and Jane Gillette, DDS, are the recipients of this year's awards.

Dr. Huang was honored in the accomplished faculty category. He is a professor and the chair of the department of orthodontics at the University of Washington School of Dentistry in Seattle and is a long-time advocate of EBD.

Dr. Chi was honored in the midcareer faculty category. He is an associate professor of oral health sciences at the University of Washington School of Dentistry. He has received numerous rewards, including the 2013 International Association for Dental Research Colgate Community-Based Research Award for Caries Prevention.

Dr. Gillette was honored in the practitioner category. She is a Montana dental researcher and practitioner, long involved in primary oral disease prevention and EBD.

The awards were presented at a joint reception of the ADA's EBD Champions Conference and the AADR Fall Focused Symposium in Washington, DC, on November 4.
