A cloud-based time clock for dental practices?

MinuteHound has released a new system designed specifically for dentists to manage their office, staff, and payroll accounting.

The company uses cloud-based technology and a biometric scanner that allows dental employees to sign in and out by swiping their finger, according to the company. The procedure ensures that staff is being paid accurately and on a timely basis.

The MinuteHound Time Clock System consists of three components:

  1. Biometric time clock: The time clock features a scanner that employees use to sign in and out by moving their finger across the unit. The time clock confirms the employees' credentials and updates their status in real-time. The time clock connects with any computer via an extendable 6-ft USB cable. The unit can be placed up to 54 ft away from the computer with extension cords.

  2. Time clock software: The software must be downloaded and installed; subsequently, all data are maintained in the cloud. Employee enrollment is supported by U.S.-based technical support should any office need assistance.

  3. Web portal: MinuteHound provides a personal Web portal to access, view, manage, and print employee timekeeping reports

The American Payroll Association (APA) estimates that businesses routinely overpay 5% on payroll due to antiquated and error-prone time and attendance systems, MinuteHound noted. The APA also warns businesses that they could lose up to 10% of their payroll costs because of inefficient tracking and reporting practices.
