East Carolina University (ECU) has begun construction on a new School of Dental Medicine Community Service Learning Center.
The $3 million, 7,700-sq-ft center, which is being set up in Sylva, is expected to be completed next summer and is the third of 10 centers ECU is planning for the state.
ECU School of Dental Medicine faculty members, postdoctoral residents, and dental students will provide patient care, and the center will also employ local staff members.
