Janet Hayes Southerland, DDS, MPH, PhD, was confirmed last week as dean of the Meharry Medical College School of Dentistry in Nashville, TN, according to a story in the Nashville Business Journal.
Dr. Southerland is currently the chair of the department of hospital dentistry and chief of the oral medicine service at the University of North Carolina School of Dentistry and Hospitals and Clinics, according to the story.
She has served as chair of the dentistry department and chief of the oral medicine service since 2002.
The Meharry dental school enrolls about 55 dental students a year.
