A calculator posted on the National Federation of Independent Business website can help U.S. dental offices figure out what tax credit to expect for providing employees with health benefits.
The calculator is not designed specifically for dental practices, but it applies to them because they will be treated as small businesses under the new healthcare reform law, according to the Academy of General Dentistry.
The law imposes new obligations on businesses to provide health benefits, but also offers credits to help pay for the benefits. The credit varies depending on the number of employees, how many participate in the health plan, the employer contribution to the premiums, and the average wage of the employees.
