NJ high school gets dental operatory

Newark Central High School in Newark, NJ, last month opened up an unusual classroom: a state-of-the-art dental operatory, according to an article in the Star-Ledger.

The school joined a handful around the U.S. with programs intended to prepare students for careers in dentistry -- mostly as dental assistants -- before they graduate from high school, the paper reported.

The Delta Dental of New Jersey Foundation provided the $75,000 for the cost of building and equipping the lab, according to the report.
