ADEA offers application service for international dentists

The American Dental Education Association (ADEA) is offering a new application service for international dental graduates seeking advanced placement admission to U.S. and Canadian dental schools.

Beginning June 8, the ADEA Centralized Application Service for Advanced Placement for International Dentists (ADEA CAAPID) will provide an online portal for applicants to submit materials one time and direct them to multiple institutions.

ADEA CAAPID was developed at the request of and in conjunction with admissions officers from U.S. and Canadian advanced placement programs. These programs provide an opportunity for dentists educated outside the U.S. and Canada to obtain an accredited degree that is recognized by state and provincial licensing officials.

Currently, 17 dental schools participate in ADEA CAAPID. Programs interested in joining ADEA CAAPID can register at no cost at any time during the current application cycle or for a future application cycle.

The ADEA CAAPID application allows international dental graduates to submit a single application form and set of credentials that will be distributed by ADEA to all participating programs designated by the applicant. A directory of schools that accept ADEA CAAPID applications for the 2009-2010 application cycle is available within the applicant portal and on the ADEA Web site. Programs will receive all application materials online through the ADEA CAAPID admissions officers portal, and programs can continue to request supplemental materials from applicants throughout the cycle.

The ADEA CAAPID application will be available June 8, 2009, through February 2010.
