Conscious sedation group to sponsor CE course

The Dental Board of California has approved a continuing education (CE) course being presented by Conscious Sedation Consulting, a patient safety advocacy firm that provides continuing education, training, and consulting services to hospitals, surgery centers, physicians, and dental offices on the administration of conscious sedation and analgesia.

The two-day didactic course is appropriate for dentists and staff who are considering sedation services or are required to have 15 hours of continuing education to renew sedation permits as pursuant to section 1647.5 of the California Business and Professions Code.

This course is being presented June 6-7, 2009, at the Marriott Marina del Rey in Marina del Rey, CA. The course was developed and is presented by an anesthesiologist with 25 years of clinical experience and a dentist anesthesiologist, according to Conscious Sedation Consulting.

Course topics include patient selection, assessment, airway management, pharmacology of sedatives, adverse event management, monitoring, documentation, recovery, discharge, process improvement, and more.
