COVID-19 FAQs, page 8
8. Is there any treatment for COVID-19 or a vaccine for SARS-CoV-2?
At this time, there is no vaccine, but numerous agencies are furiously working on a safe and efficacious vaccine. However, unless a significant scientific breakthrough occurs, a vaccine will take 12 to 18 months to develop, test, produce, and distribute. Currently, no drugs are approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for treating COVID-19. However, several promising clinical trials are being conducted, but, once again, a treatment regimen will take a long time before it will be readily available.
