The U.S. Senate has confirmed Robert Wilkie Jr. as the new secretary of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).
The Senate voted 86-9 on July 23 to confirm Wilkie, who served the U.S. Department of Defense as undersecretary of defense for personnel and readiness.
Wilkie replaces David Shulkin, MD, who was fired by U.S. President Donald Trump in March.
