The American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine (AADSM) announced the winners of its research awards during the academy's annual meeting in Denver.
John Remmers, MD, won the AADSM Clinical Research award for his work involving an oral appliance and a mandibular positioning home sleep test. Yoshitaka Suzuki won the AADSM Student Award for his controlled study that found mild traumatic brain injury does not lead to sleep bruxism.
Also at the 2016 meeting, Harold A. Smith, DDS, was inducted as president of the AADSM board of directors. Dr. Smith is currently the clinical director of Dental Sleep Medicine of Indiana, and he will serve as president for two years.
