Kolibree's smartphone-connected electric toothbrush is now available for preorder on crowd-funding platform Kickstarter. As reported in January, funds raised will be used to manufacture and distribute the toothbrush, starting with a limited rollout in June and wider distribution starting in the U.S. and Europe in the late third quarter or early fourth quarter of 2014.
The toothbrush has sensors to analyze brushing habits and display this data on a mobile dashboard accessible from a smartphone. Brushing behavior data are tracked to help improve habits over time.
The first 500 funders will be offered a Kolibree toothbrush for $99, with a price point of $129 for the next 1,000 supporters. A color choice option is added at the $149 level. All orders will receive an induction charging station and the mobile app, which works on both iPhone and Android smartphones.
In addition, there is a specific offer for developers for $199 with beta application programming interface (API) access and free support, and an educational software package for dentists for $299.
The Kickstarter campaign, which will run through May 23, 2014, has a fundraising target of $70,000.
