M&T Bank has introduced the M&T Merchant HealthCare Payment Manager to help dental offices and other healthcare providers manage their account receivables more efficiently.
The service performs an eligibility check from more than 400 third-party payors, including health insurance companies and government-administered health plans. It can also estimate what a patient will owe for a healthcare service. The service helps offices manage uncollected invoices, and allows invoices and upcoming payment notices to be emailed to patients. In addition, it can serve as a point-of-sale terminal, processing credit and debit card payments.
Chris Morphew, group vice president for commercial payment solutions, said in a statement that the service will benefit both providers and patients.
"This new service is designed to reduce the problem of uncollectible debt in the medical industry and to provide patients with flexible payment options," Morphew he said.
