The Montana Dental Association has launched the "Who is my dentist?" program, aimed at educating the parents of young children about the importance of oral health, according to a report by Channel 9 News in St. Helena.
The program utilizes social media to help teach parents about how to prevent oral health issues before they arise, the association noted. Other topics, such as protecting youngsters' mouths while participating in winter sports and where to find area dentists, are specific to Montana.
The program also urges parents to establish a dental care routine as a priority. And there are tips for establishing comfort with going to a dentist, such as reading children's books about dentist visits, role-playing, and creating a positive approach to such visits without suggesting that it will be "scary" or that the child will need to be "brave."
