A patient in Arizona used an audio recording feature on his smartphone to capture inappropriate banter between a dentist and his staff during a third-molar extraction, according to a story from KPHO-TV.
Donovan Cade and Brown Harris III, DDS, had a "heated" billing dispute after a consultation. The two negotiated a reduced rate for the extraction procedure, and Cade scheduled an appointment to have it completed.
Before being administered general anesthesia, Cade turned on the recording feature on his phone. During the entire 28-minute procedure, Dr. Harris mocked Cade and joked about tattooing a vulgarity on his forehead.
An ADA representative explained that disrespecting a patient may violate dentists' professional code of conduct, the article stated. When Cade brought the issue to the Arizona State Dental Board, it was dismissed.
