The California Dental Association (CDA) and the CDA Foundation have partnered with Missions of Mercy to provide free dental care to Californians in need.
The CDA has two events scheduled for this year: one in Modesto, May 18-19, and the other in Sacramento, August 24-25.
Patients will receive cleanings, fillings, extractions, limited prostheses, oral health education, and assistance in finding a dentist for follow-up care.
To help provide care to the large number of expected patients, CDA is recruiting volunteer dental and health professionals, including general dentists, oral surgeons, dental hygienists, assistants, lab technicians, nurses, and pharmacists. In addition, community volunteers are needed to assist with registration, clinic setup, data entry, escorting patients, translating, and much more.
Volunteers providing direct patient care must have a current California license in their respective fields. At this time, California does not have the mechanism to allow out-of-state dental and healthcare professionals to volunteer to provide direct care to patients. However, out-of-state volunteers are welcome to help in other areas of the clinic.
