Five thousand families in the flood-damaged Delta region of Arkansas will receive free medical and dental care for two weeks beginning June 8, Delta Regional Authority Federal Co-Chairman Chris Masingill and Arkansas Gov. Mike Beebe announced.
The health initiative, dubbed Taskforce Razorback, will be led by military reservists from across the U.S. It will operate in the towns of Eudora, Helena-West Helena, Marianna, McGehee, and Wynne.
Under Taskforce Razorback, any resident of these towns is eligible for services that include testing for diabetes, high blood pressure, eye exams, and general dentistry. The services will be provided by 300 medical personnel from the Army Reserve, Navy Reserve, and Air Force Reserve.
Patients will be referred to doctors in their area for any follow-up care that is needed.
