A new dental clinic to serve low-income people will soon open in the Piedmont region of Virginia, according to a news story in the Daily Progress.
The Piedmont Regional Dental Clinic (PRDC), located in Orange, will have nine operatories and provide care for nearly 10,000 patient visits annually. It aims to close the gap between low-income residents who qualify for state-administered public dental insurance and the number of dentists willing to accept that insurance, according to the story.
Currently, 12,000 low-income children in Culpeper, Orange, Madison, and Greene counties are already enrolled in the Smiles For Children (Medicaid) program, and there are only 14 general dentistry Medicaid providers in the area, PRDC Board President Andre Hintermann told the Daily Progress.
