New EAO leadership steps in

The European Association for Osseointegration (EAO) has announced a new board and committee structure.

Dr. Paul Stone takes over as president of the EAO from Dr. Christoph Häämmerle. The new president-elect is Dr. Sören Schou, who will take over the presidency in 2012. Dr. Pascal Valentini is the new secretary general, and Dr. Marc Quirynen remains treasurer.

The three new board members are Dr. Luca Cordaro, Dr. Henning Schliephake, and Dr. Alberto Sicilia Felechosa. Past president Dr. Friedrich Neukam and former board members Carlo Maiorana and Jaime Gil have stepped down.

The EAO board is now supported by these committees:

The Congress Committee is in charge of organizing the annual congress.
The Abstract Committee is responsible for the selection of scientific submissions for the congresses.
The Junior Committee consists of top young international implant dentists and researchers who work together to support the activities of the board.
The Certification Committee coordinates the new EAO certificate program in implant dentistry, which is the first European assessment of its kind.
The Consensus Conference Committee organizes the invitational meetings which discuss specific topics related to implant dentistry. The results are compiled and usually published in the Clinical Oral Implants Research Journal.
The Communications Committee is responsible for enhancing awareness of the EAO and raising the profile of the association as the European reference in implant dentistry.
