Buyer's Guide Update: Cone-beam CT and digital radiography systems

Dear Buyer's Guide Update Member,

Advances in cone-beam CT and digital radiography systems are opening news doors for clinical applications of these diagnostic tools.

For example, 3D imaging is being touted as a viable method for improving dental implant planning while reducing radiation dose, and the body of research supporting its use for this application is growing. Similarly, cone-beam CT is finding favor in orthodontics as a way to, again, improve treatment planning while reducing the patient's radiation exposure.

On the 2D front, studies show that panoramic x-rays can improve the ability to assess bisphosphonate-related osteonecrosis of the jaw and even aid in the early detection of strokes. And a number of digital x-ray systems now come in compact and even wireless handheld models or offer 2D and 3D imaging capabilities in a single unit.

This latest edition of the DrBicuspid.com Buyer's Guide Update focuses on cone-beam CT and digital radiography systems.
