A Nevada dentist is running for the Republican nomination to challenge U.S. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid.
Chuck Flume, D.D.S., a Wisconsin native, moved to Nevada after taking a teaching position at the Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies in 2002. He is one of 10 candidates vying for the right to challenge Reid.
A political newcomer, he has owned or been a partner in "numerous dental offices and clinics, a campground, a nightclub/restaurant, a strip mall and four carwashes plus numerous other investments," according to his Web site.
Dr. Flume argues for insurance portability and laws to allow competition among insurance companies across state lines. He wants restrictions on malpractice lawsuits and says he would try to keep the government from having a greater role in healthcare.
