iData Research has valued the European market for prosthetics, including crowns, bridges, and dentures, at $12.4 billion in 2008.
Austria, Benelux, France, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Russia, Scandinavia, Spain, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom are among the countries in that market that consumed the most prosthetics, iData noted.
While the global recession probably slowed the market's growth for 2009, iData believes that, in the long term, the aging population will spur an increase in demand for prosthetics.
