Despite the current economic conditions, the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD) says it broke several organizational records and met many of its goals for its 2009 annual meeting, held in Baltimore, July 8-12.
Nearly 4,000 attendees registered for the meeting, the AGD noted. Sports legend and former Oriole shortstop Cal Ripken Jr. served as the keynote speaker, and the exhibit hall featured nearly 220 booths.
"Although many organizations were affected by a decrease in annual meeting attendance, careful strategic planning and promotion of AGD2009Baltimore led to one of the AGD's most successful years," said David Halpern, D.M.D., F.A.G.D., in a press release.
The AGD will host its 2010 meeting July 8-11 in New Orleans.
